Delhi court delays charges in Lalu Prasad Yadav's 2004–2009 land-for-job scam case to Dec. 19.
A Delhi court has delayed the charge-framing hearing in a corruption case against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and associates to December 19, granting the CBI more time to submit verification reports.
The case alleges a land-for-job scam from 2004 to 2009, where land was acquired at below-market rates in family names and a company in exchange for railway jobs.
The court is considering charges under the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Union Home Ministry has approved prosecution, and parallel probes by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate continue into a related Rs 600-crore money-laundering case tied to Patna land transfers.
The Supreme Court previously rejected Yadav’s bid to halt the trial, and a transfer plea by his wife, Rabri Devi, is pending.
