Merewether teenager Ocean Lancaster won the under-16 boys title at the 2025 ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in Peru, scoring 17.13 in the final to narrowly beat Argentina’s Thiago Passeri.
His victory helped Australia claim team gold across all four divisions.
Lancaster, a member of the Merewether Surfboard Club who now trains on the Gold Coast, called the win a “magic moment” and expressed gratitude to his supporters.
The event serves as a key Olympic pathway, with surfing set to remain in the Games through 2032.
His success follows prior team gold in 2024 and comes as Surfest returns as a WSL headliner in 2027.
