Amazon launched 27 Project Leo satellites via Atlas V on Dec. 15, 2025, advancing its bid to compete with SpaceX’s Starlink.
On December 15, 2025, United Launch Alliance launched an Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral, carrying 27 internet satellites for Amazon’s Project Leo, a low-Earth orbit network aimed at providing global broadband.
The mission, the fourth Atlas V launch for the project, marks a key step in Amazon’s plan to deploy up to 3,200 satellites, competing with SpaceX’s Starlink.
The satellites were deployed into orbit and will begin testing before joining the constellation.
The launch, streamed live, highlights Amazon’s use of multiple launch providers as the Atlas V is phased out in favor of newer rockets.
