Acciona sells 49% of its U.S. and Mexican renewable assets to MIP for $1B, keeping majority control.
Acciona Energía has agreed to sell a 49% stake in its 1.3-gigawatt U.S. solar portfolio and its two Mexican wind farms totaling 321 megawatts to Mexico Infrastructure Partners (MIP) in a $1 billion deal.
The U.S. assets include four solar projects in Texas, Illinois, and Ohio, while the Mexican wind farms are in Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
Acciona will retain a 51% stake and continue operating the U.S. sites.
The transaction, pending regulatory approvals and financing, is expected to close in early 2026.
This sale is part of Acciona’s capital recycling strategy, following nearly 1.7 GW of renewable asset sales since mid-2024 across multiple countries, generating about €2.4 billion.
The deal reflects strong investor demand for stable, contracted renewable infrastructure despite economic challenges and signals continued private investment in Mexico’s renewables sector.
