Wendy James, 59, lead singer of 1980s British rock band Transvision Vamp, shares her journey in a recent interview, highlighting her adoption, early inspiration from The Clash, and the band’s 1988 debut album Pop Art. She formed the band with guitarist Nick Christian Sayer after meeting at 15, and had a long on-again, off-again relationship with Mick Jones of The Clash. James collaborated with musical icons on her 2016 solo album and now lives in France with Talking Heads members Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth. She has never married or had children, focusing on music, and is currently in a relationship. Transvision Vamp is set to tour the U.S. nationally in February 2026.
