Thomas Ouko, Kisumu County’s Tourism Chief Officer, received Kenya’s 2025 National Tourism Lifetime Achiever Award at the Kenya Tourism Excellence Awards in Nairobi.
Honored for over 20 years of service, Ouko led key national and county tourism initiatives, shaped policy, promoted sustainable tourism, and strengthened regional and international partnerships.
The award, presented by the Tourism Regulatory Authority and attended by top officials, recognized his leadership, innovation, and mentorship.
Ouko called the honor a meaningful holiday gift and reaffirmed his commitment to developing the Lake region and Kenya as a resilient, community-driven tourism destination.
The new awards program aims to boost service quality, sustainability, and global competitiveness in line with UNWTO and SDG standards.
