North Carolina’s 2026 midterm filing period entered its second week with Rep. Virginia Foxx officially launching her bid for a 12th term, tying her with the late Jim Broyhill for second-longest tenure by a Republican in state history.
Forty-two challengers have filed across the state’s 14 congressional districts, joining incumbents from both parties.
In the U.S. Senate race, former governor Roy Cooper and Michael Whatley lead a growing field, including Marcus Williams and Margot Dupre.
Voters will elect a U.S. senator, all 14 House members, state Supreme and appellate justices, and every General Assembly seat in March, with no statewide referenda.
