New Zealand brings back Ajaz Patel and Tom Blundell for final Test vs West Indies, aiming to clinch series.
New Zealand has recalled spinner Ajaz Patel and wicketkeeper Tom Blundell for the third and final Test against the West Indies, starting December 18 at Bay Oval.
Patel replaces Blair Tickner, who dislocated his shoulder during the second Test in Wellington, while Blundell returns after recovering from a hamstring injury.
The move follows New Zealand’s nine-wicket victory in Wellington, which secured a 2-0 series win and moved them to third in the ICC World Test Championship.
Head coach Rob Walter cited Patel’s experience and ability to exploit the spin-friendly Bay Oval pitch, as well as the need for bowling variety.
Blundell’s leadership is also valued in a squad with several younger players.
