The New York Mets have agreed to a two-year, $40 million deal with infielder Jorge Polanco, pending a physical, to replace Pete Alonso, who signed with the Orioles.
The 32-year-old, a 12-year MLB veteran, will primarily play first base and designated hitter, transitioning from his previous positions.

The move is part of the Mets’ roster overhaul following a disappointing 2025 season, which also included trading for Marcus Semien and losing Edwin Diaz.
Polanco hit .265 with 26 home runs and a .821 OPS in 138 games for Seattle last season.
