Lindsey Vonn finished second in the St. Moritz World Cup downhill, 0.24 seconds behind Germany’s Emma Aicher, who claimed her third career victory.
The 41-year-old American, competing in her comeback after a five-year retirement, made her 410th World Cup start, breaking Renate Goetschl’s record.
Vonn, who won the previous day to become the oldest skier to win a World Cup race, cited balance issues and fatigue from her emotional first-day win.
Despite a mid-run fall and off-track section, she posted the fastest final segment.
Vonn leads the downhill standings by 35 points over Aicher, while teammate Mikaela Shiffrin, not racing Saturday, remains top in the overall standings.
A showdown between Vonn and Shiffrin is expected in Sunday’s super-G.
