The NHRC, citing constitutional violations and potential criminal offenses under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, demanded detailed reports by December 22 and ordered top officials to appear in person on December 30, threatening legal action for non-compliance.
The Commission stressed that women’s reservation is meant for genuine leadership, not symbolic representation, and that such practices violate fundamental rights and democratic principles.
