The Indian Coast Guard evacuated a 75-year-old man from Agatti Island to Kochi, Kerala, on December 13–14, 2025, after the island’s airfield closed.
The patient, suffering from a severe brain injury and on oxygen, was airlifted via a Dornier aircraft configured as a medical ICU.
The ICG responded to a request within hours, launching the flight from Kochi at 10:00 PM, landing at Agatti at 11:20 PM, and departing 25 minutes later.
The patient arrived in Kochi by 1:10 AM and was transferred to Amrita Hospital.
The operation, completed in under three hours, demonstrated the Coast Guard’s night-landing and emergency response capabilities.
It marked the seventh such medevac using the Dornier aircraft in 2025.
