The Diamondbacks are signing 37-year-old Merrill Kelly to a $40 million, two-year deal, pending a physical.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are finalizing a two-year, $40 million deal with 37-year-old right-hander Merrill Kelly, pending a physical.
Kelly, who made his MLB debut with Arizona in 2019 after four seasons in Korea’s KBO, returns after a stint with the Rangers, where he posted a 4.23 ERA in 55 1/3 innings in 2025.
Since 2022, he has maintained a 3.47 ERA with 120 ERA+ over 108 starts, striking out 23.1% of batters.
His 2.25 ERA during the Diamondbacks’ 2023 World Series run highlighted his value.
The signing, the third major starting pitcher contract this offseason, reflects Arizona’s push to strengthen its rotation amid concerns over pitching depth.
Los Diamondbacks firmarán a Merrill Kelly, de 37 años, con un contrato de 40 millones de dólares por dos años, en espera de un examen médico.
