Delhi schools shift to hybrid learning Dec. 13, 2025, due to hazardous air pollution.
On December 13, 2025, Delhi’s government mandated a hybrid learning model for schools serving students in classes up to IX and XI due to severe air pollution, following the Commission for Air Quality Management’s activation of Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan.
The Air Quality Index reached 446, nearing the 'Severe Plus' threshold, driven by stagnant winds and poor pollutant dispersion.
Schools must offer both in-person and online instruction, with participation decisions left to students and guardians.
The directive applies to government, aided, and recognized private schools under various municipal bodies, with immediate parent notification and compliance monitoring required.
Additional measures include banning older diesel trucks, halting construction, and urging vulnerable groups to limit outdoor exposure.
The actions are in effect until further notice.
