Dave Ward, the longtime ABC13 Houston anchor emeritus, has died at 86.
A fixture in Houston journalism for over 50 years, he joined KTRK-TV in 1966 and became the world’s longest-serving local TV news anchor at the same station, recognized by Guinness World Records in 2016.
Known for his signature sign-off, “Good evening, friends,” and commitment to fair, accurate reporting, Ward covered major national events and served the community through organizations like Crime Stoppers and Easter Seals.
He retired from anchoring in 2017 but continued sharing Houston’s stories through his program “Dave Ward’s Houston.”
