Yobe State wins $1.2M as Nigeria’s top primary health care performer in 2025, with other states also honored regionally.
Yobe State has been named Nigeria’s 2025 National Champion in Primary Health Care Leadership, winning $1.2 million for top performance nationwide and in the North-East zone.
The award, part of a national initiative by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, UNICEF, and other partners, recognizes progress in healthcare delivery, infrastructure, and leadership under Governor Mai Mala Buni.
Zamfara State won top honors in the North-West, receiving $500,000, while Ogun State was runner-up nationally, earning $400,000.
Other zonal winners included Gombe, Nasarawa, Abia, Rivers, and Osun, each receiving $500,000.
The awards highlight improvements in immunization, maternal health, and health financing, driven by state-level reforms and investments.
