Trenton Berens, 34, of Russell, Kansas, was arrested after a high-speed chase through Great Bend on December 11, 2025, involving speeds over 70 mph, property damage, and a rollover crash. The pursuit began when a deputy stopped his 1992 Oldsmobile for speeding and running stop signs; the vehicle fled, evaded stop sticks, lost a rear wheel, and crashed into a building after hitting a fire hydrant. Berens, who had an outstanding warrant and prior evasion history, was taken into custody without serious injury. A K9 detected drugs, leading to charges including felony fleeing and eluding, methamphetamine possession, and property damage. A judge set his bond at $250,000. Two sheriff’s vehicles sustained moderate damage, and local agencies assisted.
