A Suffolk County postal worker was charged with stealing gift cards and lottery tickets from mail, leading to her resignation and a January court date.

Jovanni Jamison-Lewis, a 35-year-old Suffolk County postal worker, has been charged with stealing gift cards and lottery tickets from outgoing mail at the Oakdale post office. Surveillance footage showed her removing a TJ Maxx gift card and three NY State Lottery scratch-offs from envelopes, then using the card at a Port Jefferson store. Authorities recovered her purchases and found 20 additional stolen items at her home and vehicle. She faces charges including grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, and official misconduct, resigned after her arrest on November 24, and is due back in court in January. Suffolk County DA Raymond Tierney emphasized accountability for mail theft, especially during the holidays.
