Sen. Ron Johnson urges DOJ to investigate claims that Wisconsin judge got help from retired judge in fake elector case.
Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson has urged the Department of Justice to investigate allegations by former Trump attorney Jim Troupis that Wisconsin Judge John Hyland received help from retired judge Frank Remington while drafting a key court order in Troupis’s felony forgery case tied to the 2020 fake elector scheme.
Troupis, a former Dane County judge, claimed Hyland’s impartiality is compromised due to a perceived personal conflict with Remington, who denied involvement.
Hyland denied the allegations, stating he and his law clerk wrote the order independently.
Johnson, citing potential political bias, asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to review the matter, but the DOJ has not responded.
Troupis and two others face 11 felony charges over allegations they deceived Republican electors into signing false certificates to falsely claim Trump won Wisconsin.
The defense denies wrongdoing, and similar cases in other states have been dismissed.
