Over 82,000 UK students learned about farming’s role in Christmas dinner through a national educational program.
Over 82,000 students from more than 800 schools across England, including 18 in Worcestershire, four in Herefordshire, and 39 in the West Midlands, participated in the National Farmers Union’s Festive Farming Quest, a live educational program highlighting British farming’s role in producing Christmas dinner.
The initiative, aimed at Key Stage 1 pupils, explored the origins of festive foods like Brussels sprouts, Christmas trees, turkeys, and puddings, while introducing farm animals, veterinary care, and sustainable practices.
Guest speakers, including a young farmer, camel dairy founder, farm vet, and pudding manufacturer, shared insights into modern agriculture.
The NFU said its 2025 education efforts have reached over half a million children, with two-thirds of surveyed teachers supporting expanded food education in secondary schools.
