Karnataka police charge former BJP MLA and others in 2023 vote deletion scheme affecting 5,994 voters.
A Karnataka police SIT has filed a 22,000-page chargesheet in the Aland vote deletion case, accusing former BJP MLA Subhash Guttedar, his son Harshanand, and others of orchestrating the illegal deletion of 5,994 voters from electoral rolls ahead of the 2023 state elections.
The probe, prompted by allegations from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and a booth-level officer’s discovery of a forged deletion, found evidence of forged Form 7 applications, fake login credentials, and a cyber network in Kalaburagi.
The SIT alleges the accused hired a call center operator to carry out the scheme, paying ₹80 per deletion, with only 24 of 6,018 submitted forms found to be genuine.
The Election Commission denied claims of online vote deletions without due process.
The case remains under investigation, with potential additional charges pending technical data from the ECI.
