The Kano State government has banned the Independent Hisbah Fisabilillahi, declaring it illegal due to unauthorized recruitment and operations that threaten public order. Governor Abba Yusuf’s executive order, effective immediately, prohibits all activities by the group, citing violations of the Kano State Hisbah Board Law and the creation of a parallel enforcement structure. Only the official Kano State Hisbah Board is authorized to enforce moral and public order regulations. Security agencies have been directed to investigate the group’s organizers, and members are urged to disengage and report. Violations may result in prosecution for unlawful assembly, impersonation, or operating an unauthorized security group. The order will be gazetted for official enforcement.
