Ireland to deploy voice firewall by mid-2026 to block scam calls using AI and real-time analysis.
Ireland’s communications regulator, ComReg, is deploying a "voice firewall" by mid-2026 to combat a surge in scam calls, including those spoofing UK numbers with the +44 prefix.
These automated calls often impersonate banks, job agencies, or government bodies, urging recipients to save numbers on WhatsApp to steal personal data.
The new system will use real-time analytics and machine learning to block suspicious patterns and spoofed international traffic.
Since 2023, ComReg’s efforts have blocked over 131 million scam calls, with more than 18 million stopped in September 2025 alone.
The regulator urges the public to remain cautious, avoid engaging with unknown callers, and not save numbers from suspicious sources.
Irlanda implementará un cortafuegos de voz a mediados de 2026 para bloquear las llamadas fraudulentas utilizando IA y análisis en tiempo real.
