Five men arrested in Hamilton over jewelry store robberies across southwestern Ontario, including a $60,000 theft.

Five men were arrested in Hamilton in connection with a series of jewelry store break-ins across southwestern Ontario, including a Nov. 17 robbery at Ancaster Jewellers that resulted in over $60,000 in stolen merchandise. The suspects, believed to be part of an organized group, used crowbars to force entry after scouting stores as customers. Police, using GPS and cell tower tracking, intercepted a rental vehicle linked to the suspects and executed a search warrant at a West Mountain residence, seizing stolen jewelry, cash, and other items. The operation, led by Hamilton’s BEAR unit and supported by Peel Regional Police, also uncovered a stolen BMW. All five suspects—Silviu Moraru, Ion-Ciprian Constantin, Mircea Drezaliu, Ionut Stroe, and Vasile Vasile—have been charged, with police opposing bail. Authorities continue investigating related incidents in multiple regions and urge the public to provide information.
