Eilísh Hardiman, former CEO of Children’s Health Ireland, has been appointed to a new regional leadership role within the HSE at the same salary of about €184,000.
Her tenure at CHI ended in April 2024 after two terms, limited by government policy restricting non-commercial state leaders to two consecutive terms.
The move follows mediation and comes as CHI transitions to its new National Children’s Hospital, with new leadership now overseeing operations.
The Minister for Health cited Hardiman’s pediatric healthcare expertise and leadership as key reasons for her appointment, despite opposition concerns over past controversies at CHI.
The decision was communicated in response to parliamentary questions.
