215 animals rescued in California after neglect; owner arrested, 20 died, 81 available for adoption.
On November 30, a welfare check in Grass Valley, California, led to the rescue of 215 animals from a property on Meyer Ravine Road after a tip about neglect. Nevada County authorities found 14 dead animals, three euthanized on-site, and four more died later, totaling 20 fatalities. Many survivors were severely ill with Orf, a contagious disease. The owner, 39-year-old Joshua Grayson, was arrested on eight felony animal cruelty charges. Over 700 volunteer hours were contributed by HEART and shelter teams, and 81 animals are now available for adoption through Sammie’s Friends. Remaining animals require medical care and foster homes.
