U.S. Navy recovered two aircraft lost in South China Sea crash; all crew rescued, investigation ongoing.
The U.S. Navy recovered two aircraft—a F/A-18F Super Hornet and an MH-60R Seahawk—lost in the South China Sea on October 26, 2025, from about 400 feet deep, following crashes half an hour apart while operating from the USS Nimitz.
All crew members were rescued.
The recovery, conducted by a contracted vessel with unmanned systems and supported by Navy salvage units including the USNS Salvor, involved multiple task forces and commands.
Components are being sent to a U.S. military base in the Indo-Pacific for analysis.
The incidents are under investigation.
