Thailand’s PM Anutin secured royal approval to dissolve Parliament, triggering early elections due to political instability and border clashes with Cambodia.
Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has received royal approval to dissolve Parliament, triggering early general elections within 45 to 60 days.
The move follows political instability, a fractured coalition, and escalating border clashes with Cambodia that have killed at least 20 people and displaced hundreds of thousands.
Anutin, who took office in September, cited governance challenges and a broken agreement with the opposition over constitutional reform as key reasons.
A caretaker government will now lead until the vote, which is expected in late January or early February 2026.
