Though no criminal charges were filed due to the consensual nature of the acts, the incident led to his termination for violating department policies. Hamlet claimed the firing was retaliation for prior workplace complaints, including one over his hairstyle, which was dismissed by a federal judge. The commission’s decision bars him from future law enforcement employment in Tennessee.
