Taiwan launches Asia-Pacific’s first annual early chronic kidney disease report to boost prevention and early detection.
Taiwan has launched the Asia-Pacific’s first Early Chronic Kidney Disease Annual Report, a data-driven initiative to shift focus from late-stage treatment to early detection and prevention. Developed by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Health Research Institutes, the report tracks early-stage CKD patients, supports Pay for Performance programs, and shows declining high-risk cases. While 80% meet lipid goals and nearly 60% control blood sugar, only about 30% achieve optimal blood pressure targets. The effort supports Taiwan’s goal to reduce chronic disease deaths by one-third by 2030 and is seen as a regional model for sustainable, precision-based kidney care.
