Mohammed Ben Sulayem was re-elected unopposed for a second four-year term as FIA president, beginning in 2025, following the organization’s general assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
His re-election came after potential challengers, including Laura Villars and Tim Mayer, failed to meet strict nomination rules requiring a vice-presidential candidate from each of the FIA’s six global regions.
Only Brazilian Fabiana Ecclestone, aligned with Ben Sulayem, met the criteria.
Under his leadership, the FIA has improved financially, turning a €24 million loss in 2021 into a €4.7 million operating profit in 2024, with a projected €4.4 million profit for 2025.
The FIA stated the election process followed its statutes and was transparent.
