London’s top cop rejects Trump’s claims of city danger, citing low crime rates and declining violence.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has dismissed former U.S. President Donald Trump’s claims that London is unsafe and plagued by crime, calling them “complete nonsense” and politically driven.
Rowley stated London’s homicide rate is lower than every U.S. state and major American city, including New York, and rejected the idea of “no-go areas” for police.
He emphasized ongoing efforts to improve safety and noted that violent crime in London has been declining.
The comments follow Trump’s recent criticisms of London Mayor Sadiq Khan and his portrayal of the city as deteriorating, which UK officials have also condemned as unfounded.
