Geely opens a $284M safety center in China, the world’s largest, to boost auto safety amid rising recalls and accidents.
Geely has opened a $284 million safety testing center in Ningbo, China, claiming it as the world’s largest automotive safety facility with 27 types of tests, including crash, cybersecurity, and ADAS evaluations.
The 45,000-square-meter center, backed by over $290 million, holds five Guinness World Records and supports Geely’s “Comprehensive Safety 2.0” vision.
The move responds to rising safety concerns amid China’s auto price wars, high-profile accidents like the Xiaomi SU7 incident, and increased recalls, including BYD’s 210,000-vehicle recall.
The center will serve both domestic and international automakers to raise global safety standards.
