A federal grand jury in Virginia again refuses to re-indict NY AG Letitia James on mortgage fraud charges tied to her 2020 home purchase.
A federal grand jury in Alexandria, Virginia, has again declined to re-indict New York Attorney General Letitia James on mortgage fraud charges, the latest setback for the Justice Department’s effort to revive the case.
The decision follows a prior dismissal by a federal judge who ruled that prosecutor Lindsey Halligan, appointed under political pressure, was improperly appointed.
The charges stem from James’ 2020 home purchase in Norfolk, where she allegedly misrepresented the property as a second home while renting it out.
James denies wrongdoing, calling the case politically motivated.
The Justice Department has not commented, and the case remains under review.
