Al Ain named Arab Tourism Capital for 2026, highlighting UAE’s tourism growth and heritage goals.
Al Ain has been named the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2026 by the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism during its 28th session in Baghdad.
The honor, announced by a UAE delegation led by Undersecretary Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, recognizes the city’s cultural and heritage significance and reflects the UAE’s broader tourism ambitions.
The designation aligns with the UAE Tourism Strategy 2031, aiming to attract 40 million hotel guests annually and increase tourism’s GDP contribution to AED450 billion by 2031.
The UAE’s tourism sector contributed AED257.3 billion to the economy in 2024, or 13% of GDP.
Recent accolades include Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais’s election as UN Tourism Secretary-General and Masfout village in Ajman winning the 2025 Best Tourism Village in the World title.
The Council also emphasized sustainable tourism, intra-Arab travel, digital transformation, accessibility, heritage preservation, and regional cooperation.
