A 16-year-old charged as an adult in the Aug. 2025 drowning of 13-year-old Jakob Bowerman during horseplay.
A 16-year-old from Marinette, Wisconsin, has been charged as an adult with second-degree reckless homicide in the August 2025 drowning of 13-year-old Jakob Bowerman, who could not swim.
Court documents say the teen and a 21-year-old man allegedly pushed Bowerman into the Menominee River during horseplay.
The suspect, who admitted to pushing Bowerman, faces up to 25 years in prison.
His mother said her son had been bullied by the suspects.
He was ordered to attend school, avoid drugs and alcohol, and have no contact with the victim’s family.
A preliminary hearing is set for December 17, and a GoFundMe for the family has raised over $18,000.
