Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced new benefits for Provincial Guard (PRD) personnel during the Foundation Day parade in Dehradun, including a dedicated training institute, hospitalization on duty counted as active service with a six-month honorarium, and a sports ground in Raipur.
He highlighted the PRD’s role in security, disaster response, and the Char Dham Yatra, noting daily allowances rose from Rs 65 to Rs 650 since statehood.
Retired jawans with 10 years of service now get a Rs 18 lakh lump sum, and duty-related death compensation increased to Rs 1 lakh, with higher amounts for sensitive duties.
Over Rs 70 lakh in aid has been provided to families of injured or deceased personnel, and 190 dependents of deceased or disabled jawans have been registered since 2023, with 133 employed and 149 set for training.
The PRD now numbers over 7,500 personnel.
