The UAE has enacted a new Federal Decree-Law modernizing its civil judiciary by enabling automatic creation of inheritance courts without litigant consent, speeding up dispute resolution. Specialized courts for civil or commercial cases can now be established by agreement. Courts may consult local or international experts and correct reports for accuracy. Appeal rules now require detailed briefs, with non-compliance leading to inadmissibility. The right to appeal to the Court of Cassation has expanded to include decisions from Courts of Appeal. The Attorney-General can now file appeals independently or upon request, even if deadlines were missed, strengthening oversight. The reforms aim to improve efficiency, transparency, and alignment with international legal standards.
