Tata Steel has approved a major expansion in India, including a 6 million tonne greenfield steel plant in Maharashtra with Lloyd Metals & Energy, a 4.8 million tonne capacity boost at Neelachal Ispat, and new rolling and galvanizing lines in Tarapur and Meeramandali.
The company is acquiring a 50.01% stake in Thriveni Pellets to secure pellet supply and is developing a 1 million tonne demonstration plant in Jamshedpur using low-carbon HIsarna technology.
These projects aim to strengthen raw material supply, support automotive and construction sectors, and expand capacity to 40 million tonnes by 2030.
All plans are pending regulatory and internal approvals.
