A Tamil film's release is blocked by court order due to unpaid ₹21.78 crore debt, halting distribution until settled.
Karthi’s film Vaa Vaathiyaar has been indefinitely postponed after the Madras High Court blocked its December 12 release over unpaid debts.
The film’s producer, Gnanvel Raja of Studio Green, owes ₹21.78 crore—originally a ₹10.35 crore loan from Arjunlal Sundardas—now with accumulated interest.
Despite offering to pay ₹3.75 crore within 24 hours and providing asset documentation, the court rejected the proposal, citing repeated delays and lack of genuine repayment intent.
The decision halts all distribution and screening until the debt is settled, marking another high-profile delay in the South Indian film industry.
