A $50M Western art auction of Bill Koch’s collection, featuring works by Remington and Russell, is set for January 20, 2026, in New York.
A major auction of American Western art from billionaire Bill Koch’s collection is set for January 20, 2026, at Christie’s in New York, with an estimated total value of at least $50 million.
The “Visions of the West” sale features over 100 works by Frederic Remington, Charles Marion Russell, and Albert Bierstadt, including key pieces like Remington’s “Coming to the Call” and Russell’s “The Sun Worshippers,” expected to sell for $6–8 million and $4–6 million, respectively.
Koch, who grew up on ranches in Montana and Texas, said his deep connection to the American Plains inspired his lifelong passion for Western art.
The auction reflects sustained interest in the genre, driven by the region’s cultural legacy and growing population and wealth.
Christie’s has not disclosed the reason for the sale, but Koch stated it is time to pass the collection along.
The event is expected to draw national attention and may be one of the most significant Western art auctions in years.
