Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson to reprise roles in "Hunger Games" prequel, set for 2026.

Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their roles as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark in "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping," a prequel set for a November 2026 release. The film, based on Suzanne Collins’ new novel, explores the 50th Hunger Games 24 years before the original series, featuring teenage versions of the characters and Haymitch Abernathy as a tribute. Directed by Francis Lawrence, it will also star Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, and Kieran Culkin. While Lawrence and Hutcherson have expressed interest in returning, producer Nina Jacobson said Lawrence’s participation hinges on Collins writing a new story involving Katniss, whose arc is currently considered complete.
