JA Solar launched its first BESS in Sicily, combining solar and battery storage to boost energy resilience and cut emissions.
JA Solar has launched its first commercial and industrial battery energy storage system (BESS) in Sicily, Italy, combining 3.2 MW of existing and 2 MW of new solar capacity with a 2.61 MWh battery system.
The project, part of JA Solar’s "PV+Storage+X" strategy, uses a locally developed Italian Energy Management System and advanced controls to optimize real-time energy flows, improve self-consumption, reduce costs and emissions, and provide backup power during outages.
Designed for coastal conditions, the system resists humidity, salt corrosion, and extreme temperatures.
It supports grid stability, reduces reliance on diesel generators, and enables participation in advanced energy markets.
The deployment marks a key step in JA Solar’s global expansion of customized, sustainable energy solutions for industries like manufacturing and agriculture.
