flag A former UK teacher was permanently banned for sending explicit messages to a non-student, despite no criminal charges.

Lianne Barclay, a former teacher at Bridgewater High School in Warrington, has been permanently banned from teaching in England after a Teacher Regulation Agency panel found she sent sexually suggestive messages and voice notes to a child not enrolled at her school between March and July 2019. The communications, which included explicit language and declarations of affection, were deemed inappropriate and a breach of professional boundaries despite her claims of a familial relationship. Although police investigated but did not pursue criminal charges, the panel ruled her conduct unacceptable and brought the profession into disrepute, leading to her permanent removal from teaching.
