Ford is ending the 2.0L diesel engine in its 2026 Ranger and Amarok in Australia due to declining sales.

Ford is phasing out the TDI500 2.0-litre diesel engine from its 2026 Ranger and the related Amarok in Australia, shifting focus to the 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel and other engines. The move follows a 36.6% year-on-year sales drop for the Amarok, with 5,020 units sold through November compared to 51,125 Rangers. Existing TDI500 models remain available at current prices while supplies last. Volkswagen plans to strengthen the Amarok’s premium image ahead of the upcoming W-Series flagship, developed with Walkinshaw, featuring enhanced styling and performance. An entry-level model with the TSI452 petrol engine is expected, though details are unconfirmed.
