The Illinois State Board of Elections has not made a final decision, pending a hearing officer’s recommendation and board review on January 8.
Soliz expressed disappointment, citing systemic barriers to new political voices.
U.S. Rep. Eric Sorensen, a two-term Democrat seeking a third term, may face no primary challenger if the decision stands.
Two Republicans, Julie Bickelhaupt and Dillan Vancil, have also filed for the GOP primary.
