2degrees has started phasing out its 3G network, beginning with 100 rural sites on the Rural Connectivity Group network as part of a shift to 4G and 5G services. The move, which follows global trends, aims to improve network performance and support modern data demands. Customers are urged to check if their devices are compatible with newer networks by texting “3G” to 550, with recycling options available through 2degrees stores and RE:MOBILE. The company stopped selling 3G-only phones in 2022 and continues to expand 4G and 5G infrastructure, with further closures planned for early 2026.
