Budget airlines often hide their lowest bag fees, misleading shoppers, a consumer group found.
A consumer group, Which?, found that budget airlines EasyJet, Ryanair, and Wizz Air rarely offer their lowest advertised cabin bag fees, with the cheapest rates—£5.99, £12, and €10—available only in a tiny fraction of nearly 1,500 flights analyzed. Actual prices were significantly higher on average, with EasyJet averaging £30, Ryanair £20.50, and Wizz Air £28.93. Which? accused the airlines of misleading consumers by hiding true costs until late in booking, calling the practices deceptive and referring the findings to the Advertising Standards Authority. Airlines defended their pricing as transparent and compliant with laws.
