Vertical Aerospace to launch UK’s first electric air-taxi network in 2028, linking major cities with quiet, clean eVTOLs.
Vertical Aerospace plans to launch the UK’s first electric air-taxi network in 2028, connecting Canary Wharf to Heathrow, Gatwick, Cambridge, Oxford, and Bicester using its Valo eVTOL aircraft.
The four-seat planes, capable of 100-mile flights at 150mph, will offer faster travel than ground transport, with a full-scale prototype on display at a Canary Wharf open house.
Seven certification aircraft are being built in the UK for testing with the UK Civil Aviation Authority and EASA, aiming for Type Certification before service begins.
The company says the aircraft will be quieter, cleaner, and cheaper to operate than helicopters, with future pricing potentially matching ride-sharing services.
The network may expand to six seats and support emergency medical and cargo missions.
