The U.S. imposed sanctions on four individuals and four companies linked to a transnational network recruiting former Colombian military personnel to support Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the ongoing civil war.
The network, active since at least 2024, is accused of facilitating the deployment of hundreds of Colombian veterans to fight in Sudan, providing training, combat roles, and drone operations.
The RSF has been implicated in widespread atrocities, including mass killings, sexual violence, and the capture of El Fasher, contributing to a humanitarian crisis with over 14 million displaced and more than 40,000 killed.
The U.S. accused the RSF of genocide in Darfur and said the network’s actions have deepened conflict and regional instability.
The sanctions restrict financial transactions and travel for designated individuals and entities.
